“Marriage is a divine institution created by God where by two rational free moral agents, who are born again choose to enter into covenant relationship with each other and have made a unconditional lifetime commitment to God to stay with an imperfect person.”-

our Origin story

Hi, I’m Allison and my husband is Avon, and I want to share with you how Alli and Avy Co was formed. The reason for the creation of “HIS Est Ephesians 5: 21-33” is because for those who desire to build and grow in marriage (especially as believers of Christ), you learn you must have a sturdy foundation. We can locate the foundation of marriage in the Living Word in the book of Genesis 2:18-25. Getting married has always been the easy part, but staying married is a whole other story! Ephesians 5: 21-33 is a great reminder of the things to remember and apply while married. “HIS” represents who you will be when you say “I do” and you are no longer your own! As believers, we also know we belong to God and so “HIS” can also help remind us of who we are to God and also give Him ownership of our lives. We should remember we always have the Word of God to show us what to do and what not to do.

Before getting married we went through marriage counseling, with our Pastor, the late great Rev Dr. Bishop Michael V. Talbert Sr. of First Church of Wyandanch Ministries, in Long Island, NY. We received some great resources to truly help us understand what we were getting into. One of the best tools was the Living Word, the Holy Bible, but it also helped to get some additional wisdom and so he assigned a book for us to read, “Single, Married, Separated, and Life After Divorce”, by Dr. Myles Monroe. We were only to read about being Single and Married. Life changing information was found in this book and we find ourselves referencing it all the time to couples who are interested in marriage. Our late pastor also gave us a definition of marriage to always keep in mind,

Marriage is a divine institution created by God where by two rational free moral agents, who are born again choose to enter into covenant relationship with each other and have made a unconditional lifetime commitment to God to stay with an imperfect person.”

This quote is so layered and is true. When it comes to marriage, He provided the ways to have a successful marriage in Ephesians 5: 21-33. This tells you how the wife is to be and how the husband is to be. Knowing and understanding we are both “HIS”, we can submit to God and His Word and truly work on being the better for one another. In 2011 me and my husband vowed that we submit our lives one to another and would consider each other above ourselves as we are growing in God together to fulfill our purposes here in the earth. Now, that is easier said than done… for sure, but understanding our commitment one to another, through the ups and the downs, we are still committed more than ever. At this point, we would love to share that journey with you.
